Come join the Norwood Exempt Firefighter Association at their annual service remembering our deceased brothers that have served this Department and their Community.  The service will be at the Norwood Firehouse at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2017.

We morn the loss of Frank A. Bocchino

Frank A. Bocchino

 

Frank A., Sr., 86, of Jefferson Twp., formerly of Norwood, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015.

Beloved husband of Carol (nee Morone). Cherished father of Cheryl Lucious and husband Monte of Norwood, Karen Elliott of Gloucester, MA, Michelle Spafford and husband Dennis of Inverness, FL, Frank Jr. and wife Laura of Norwood and Mark and wife Melba of Norwood. Adored grandfather of seventeen and greatgrandfather of twelve. Dearest brother of Michael and wife Marianna of Brick, and Joseph of Little Egg Harbor. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, brother Charles "Chubby" and his wife Joan sister, Barbara Caruso and her husband August and son-in-law John Elliott.

Frank was a master plumber who owned Michael F. Bocchino and Sons Plumbing in Norwood.

Frank dedicated his life to the fire service. He was President of the NJ State Firemen’s Association from 1994-2003 after having served as executive and vice-president for many years. He was a 63 year life member of the Norwood Volunteer Fire Department where he was Chief 1971-72, Firefighter of the Year in 1977 and was proud to be their chaplain for many years. Frank was also a life member of the NJ State Exempt Firemen’s Association, where he was also past president and the NJ/NY Firemen’s Association. Frank was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood and was a Eucharistic minister. He served in the National Guard from 1946-53. Frank was also one of the founders of Little League Baseball in Norwood.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10 AM at Immaculate Conception with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale 201-767-3050.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the NJ Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Ave., Boonton, NJ 07005 would be greatly appreciated.

 

Pancake Breakfast

On Sunday April 6, 2014 Fire Explorer Post 911 will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast.

Breakfast will be served at the Firehouse from 8 Am till Noon at a cost of $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 10.  All fund will go to the support of our Junior Firefighter Programs.

Halloween Parade

The Sixteenth Annual Halloween Parade will take place on Sunday, October 27, 2013.  We ask that all children and parents assemble, in costume, at 1:30 pm, in the parking lot of the Norwood Library.  The parade will kick off at 2 pm and proceed to the firehouse on Broadway.  

Easter Egg Hunt

The Norwood Fire Company will host its 33rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Egg Toss at Kennedy Memorial Park on Sunday, March 24th starting at 1:00PM. Peter Cottontail, Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Smokey the Bear and Barney will be there to play with the children and award prizes to the lucky winners in all age groups up to 10 years old. All children will receive candy and must be accompanied by parents. Bring your camera and come out and have lots of fun with the firefighters. THERE WILL BE NO RAIN DATE!

Santa Visits Norwood Dec. 9th

The Norwood Fire Company will be hosting its annual Santa Day sleigh tour throughout our town.  Santa will be making an appearance with his reindeer and firefighter friends starting at 11am.  Residents of all ages are welcome to come down to the street and greet Santa.  As a tradition candy canes will be given to all.  Please remember to listen for the sirens and come say hello to Santa who will be visiting Norwood all day Sunday, December 9th.  Parents please have your cameras ready!
 
The Company will also be collecting packaged toys for tots and food for other storm relief programs on our way.  On behalf of the Norwood Fire Company we wish all a happy and safe Holiday Season.
